Some common
forms of networks are:
Wireless
- Inexpensive wireless routers are now available that connect to a cable or DSL
modem and provide a local wireless connection in addition to providing
typically four RJ-45 connections for wired service. Modern laptops typically
come with built-in wireless capability. Small wireless adapters that plug
into a USB port can be used to connect a desktop machine to the wireless
network.
Typical Small
Office Network - Computers are connected via CAT5
cables using a switch and router for internet access. PCs are configured to use
TCP/IP protocol and to use file and printer sharing over the network so all
employees can use all the printers and can use a common file areas or drives on
the PCs. A stand-alone router is used to connect to the Internet via an
Internet service provider (ISP).
Corporate
Intranet – Featuring multiple servers and resources allowing users
simplified access to resources and full redundancy. Usually includes multiple
routers and switches configured in a mixture of wired and wireless network
solutions. Often corporations will also deploy their own email server solutions
using such products as Microsoft Outlook/Exchange or Lotus Applications Notes.
Pro-Tech Support has over 10+ years experience working with
such technologies and would be more than happy to sit down and further explain
what solutions would work well for your needs.
